WOODBURN, Ore. – A man told police he was carjacked at gunpoint by a woman he tried to help Sunday night in Woodburn.

The man said he was driving his truck in the Brushwood Court area of Salem when a woman approached him, crying and saying that she needed a ride to Woodburn due to a sick mother.

He agreed to give her a ride to the West Woodburn area and as they were driving in the 3000 block of Nekia St., the man said she pulled out a gun and ordered him to get out of the truck.

At first, he resisted, so the woman hit him in the head with the butt of her handgun and then the man got out of the truck and ran.

He said the woman drove away in his truck around 7 p.m. She was described as standing about 5’6” tall, in her 20s, with a thin build and long, blond hair with dark roots. She was wearing a pink shirt, black vest, and black pants with black high-heeled shoes.

The man called police and when they arrived, he was bleeding from his head. His truck was found just a few blocks away a short time later, abandoned along Highway 214 at Woodland Avenue.

Police, assisted by a K9, and Marion County Sheriff's deputies searched the area for a couple hours but could not find the suspect.

Anyone with information was encouraged to call Woodburn Police at (503)982-2345.
