GRESHAM, Ore. -- Gresham police say an officer shot at a car that came directly at him and then hit his motorcycle.
Police say the patrol officer was chasing the red Toyota Tercel through a neighborhood Thursday because it was being driven recklessly.
When the car stopped at an intersection, the officer approached. Police say the vehicle turned on the officer and hit his cycle, and the officer fired into the car.
The car sped off but was found a half mile away, the driver having fled.
Gresham Police later arrested 52-year-old Robert Anthony Deshaw for attempted assault, attempting to elude, a parole violation warrant and a heroin possession charge.
