OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Three people have been killed and many more rescued in Washington state during the raging rain and windstorm, according to Governorn Christine Gregoire.
The governor told a news conference in Olympia Tuesday that there have been three fatalities. In addition to two reported earlier in Grays Harbor County, the third was the result of a mudslide.
About 150 people have been rescued by Coast Guard, Navy and King County helicopters.
Gregoire said storm and flood damage in Washington will be significant.

Gregoire will fly over the flooded areas Tuesday but it will take days for emergency officials to assess damage and come up with a request for federal aid.
One of the worst areas is at Centralia-Chehalis where water over I-5 is 10 feet deep. The impact on lost business from delayed truck traffic is estimated at $4 million a day.
The state has called up more than 100 members of the National Guard to help with emergency operations.
