PORTLAND, Ore. -- Two men remained missing and were presumed drowned Friday along the Oregon Coast after a 42-foot crab boat capsized near the north jetty at Tillamook Bay, authorities said.

Tim Leake and George Shaw were on the Network crab boat when it capsized in heavy surf.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the captain, Darrin Mobley, a 43-year-old Bay City resident, managed to swim to shore and was picked up by the Coast Guard and fire crews from Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi.

He was treated at Tillamook County General Hospital and has been released, said nursing supervisor Otto Gonzalez.

Mobley was the only one among the three who was wearing a life jacket, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Shawn Eggert.

A crew reported the Network, from Garibaldi, capsized about 7:30 a.m.

The Coast Guard said it sent an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Astoria and a crew in a 47-foot boat from Tillamook Bay to search for Leake and Shaw.

The search was suspended Friday evening, according to Coast Guard officials.

Officials reported as much as 400 gallons of fuel may have leaked out of the boat and into the water. Portland pollution investigators were dispatched but said preliminary reports show minimal environmental damage.

Waves in the area were cresting between 10 and 13 feet and water temperature was about 52 degrees Friday morning, according to KGW Meterologist Dave Salesky.

Officials acknowledged rough seas but said the bar remained open.

Locals report the boat was en route to prepare for the start of Monday's crabbing season.

The bar at Tillamook Bay has claimed at least 15 lives since early 2007.

Crabbing season begins Monday but crabbers were allowed to set their crab pots Friday if they don't retrieve them before Monday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
