PORTLAND, Ore. -- A major fire has left one man dead and half a city block burned in Astoria.
The three alarm fire started at about 11 p.m. Thursday and was still burning Friday morning. At least four buildings, including a downtown Astoria landmark, have reportedly burned near the intersection of Commercial and 10th.
Officials said the fatality occurred in the building where the massive fire may have started. It housed five separate businesses, including a Bank of America, two restaurants, an art studio and a florist shop.
They said the fire likely started in the florist shop, a shuttered business where the death occurred.

Officials believe the man that died was living in the closed shop.
Roads were closed all night long as 51 firefighters, medics and police responded from at least seven agencies along the Oregon Coast, according to Astoria Police Department spokesperson Brian Aydt.
The historic building, built in 1924, was owned by Luottamus Partners.
