Hit-and-run driver crashes into tow truck on SR-500
11:23 AM PST on Wednesday, November 28, 2007
A speeding driver in Clark County crashed into a tow truck and fled the scene early Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers were already on scene, investigating a collision on SR-500 near Northeast Brunner Road. The roadway was blocked at the time while a tow truck recovered the wrecked car involved in the initial collision.
Suddenly, the driver of a Ford Probe traveling eastbound on SR-500 failed to obey a trooper directing traffic, and smashed into the tow truck.
The tow truck driver and two troopers were outside their vehicles at the time and could have been seriously injured or killed if the Ford would have struck them, said WSP trooper Mike Kesler.
The driver was described only as a white man estimated to be 29 to 35-years-old. The incident occurred just after midnight.
Anyone with information about the driver’s identity or location is asked to call (360) 449-7950.
