A Portland police officer who allegedly coerced an autistic woman into having sex with him pleaded innocent Wednesday to two misdemeanor charges of official misconduct.

Officer in court Wednesday

Jason Faulk, a 10-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau, is accused of having sex with a woman while he was on duty last summer. Wednesday he was arraigned in Multnomah County court.

According to detectives, 33-year-old Faulk coerced an autistic woman into having sex with her inside her home after he responded to a police call she made last summer.

Background: More on accusations

The woman says Faulk came back several times, always at night, and always when he was wearing his police uniform. According to her attorney, the woman who is in her late 20's, felt pressured to have sex with Faulk on two different visits.

Detectives obtained video from a Walgreens where it appears Faulk gave the accuser money to buy a morning after contraceptive. A grand jury did not indict Faulk on charges of sexual abuse, but he will go to trial in January on the misdemeanor charges of official misconduct.

Faulk is not in custody, and his conditions of release include having no contact with the alleged victim, and allowing officers to search his home at any time. He remains on paid administrative leave from the Portland Police Bureau as he case continues.

Both Faulk and his attorney had no comment about the case, but Faulk could be seen both in and outside the courtroom making an obscene gesture to KGW's cameras.
