PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Portland woman got the shock of a lifetime when she found out the size of her Oregon lottery jackpot.
Maria Schaffrinna won $1 million in the Nov. 17 drawing. Lottery officials said she showed up at the office thinking she matched only five numbers to win $600, but six actually matched.
She bought her winning ticket at Fred Meyer on Hawthorne. The winning numbers were 5-24-32-34-36-39.
Schaffrinna chose the one-time payment equal to one-half the advertised Megabucks jackpot, before state and federal taxes were withheld.
