In documents released Thursday regarding the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl by former Governor Neil Goldschmidt, his former wife Margie referred to the girl as a "predator" and also said "Neil was an idiot."

The transcript was among thousands of pages documents released Thursday by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Those documents reveal new, inside information surrounding the sexual abuse case.

The documents were released as part of the largest investigation ever by the agency. Its board will decide whether Multnomah County Sheriff Bernie Giusto will keep his badge.

Giusto is accused of lying to the public about his knowledge of the sexual abuse by Goldschmidt. On Thursday, Giusto again denied prior knowledge of the abuse.

Giusto was Goldschmidt’s driver when Goldschmidt was governor.

The abuse began in 1975 while Goldschmidt was mayor of Portland.

As part of their fact finding mission, investigators asked Goldschmidt’s former wife, Margie what she knew about the abuse.

She said her former husband is not a pedophile---instead pointing the finger at the 14 year old girl.

"---given that I teach high school. I teach 14 year olds," she is quoted as saying in transcripts from the investigators.

"I know exactly the kind of behavior that can go on and particularily if a young woman has been abused, which she was. They become---they become predators themselves and this is not in any way to fault her---not-but I do understand what happened," said Goldschmidt in the transcript.

"They become predators. And she was a predator and Neil was an idiot," Goldschmidt said in the transcript.

Later, describing her ex husband she is quoted as saying, "…he was vulnerable like I think many men are to a situation…"
