Oregon college student wins $250,000 in game show
07:27 AM PST on Wednesday, November 12, 2008
ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A Southern Oregon University student made it one quarter of the way to being a millionaire after an appearance on the popular TV game show hosted by Meredith Vieira.
Brianne Sherman became the biggest winner on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" so far this season after the 21-year-old student won $250,000.
The French and international studies major missed the the $500,000 question about where Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to end the Civil War.
It turned out it was a family's house in Virginia, not a courthouse. But Sherman got no help from her last "Lifeline" expert and she decided to settle for the quarter million-dollar prize, rather than gamble on a guess.
Sherman planned to celebrate her win at the Ashland sushi restaurant where she works part-time.
