SANDY, Ore. -- Sandy High School went into lockdown mode briefly Wednesday afternoon after a student reported that her former boyfriend was on school property and armed, police and school officials said.

The girl told school officials that Kyle Wykrent, 18, had asked her to leave school grounds with him and that he had a gun, said Sandy Police Chief Harold Skelton.

No one was injured. Police apprehended Wykrent, who was unarmed.

"According to a statement by the ex-girlfriend, he displayed a weapon," Skelton said. Officers questioned Wykrent and interviewed witnesses.

Wykrent was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of kidnapping and menacing his ex-girlfriend, said Sheriff's deputy Angela Brandenburg.

She added that Wykrent was on parole out of Multnomah County. He was being held Wednesday night without bail for a potential parole violation, Brandenburg said.

The school went into lockdown mode around 1:30 p.m. for about fifteen minutes as police searched for Wykrent, said Julia Monteith, an Oregon Trail School District spokesperson.

"A gun still hasn't been found," Chief Skelton said. The investigation was continuing Wednesday night.
