Suspect in 'violent' SE Portland murder identified as victim's brother
05:32 PM PST on Monday, November 10, 2008
PORTLAND -- A woman found dead in a southeast Portland apartment last week has been identified by police as the sister to the suspected killer.
Authorities on Monday identified the victim as Theresa Ann Rockwood, 52.
Joseph Frank Rockwood, 54, has been arrested and charged with her murder.
Medical examiners say the woman died of multiple stab wounds and "homicidal violence."
Authorities were called to the apartment near SE 116th Avenue and Division Street on a welfare check. When they went inside, they found the body of a middle aged woman, now identified as Rockwood.
Investigators wore protective suits at the crime scene Saturday.
A neighbor who watched police work the crime scene spoke to KGW.
"It's pretty shocking," said Rhea Moats. "I watched them roll the body out last night. It was really creepy. They waited until really late."
Joseph Rockwood is being held without bail and he has not yet entered a plea.
His first court appearance will be later this month.
