Chemicals trigger Oregon City Hall evacuation
05:53 PM PST on Thursday, November 6, 2008
PORTLAND -- The Oregon City Hall was evacuated after someone brought in what looked like a mobile methamphetamine lab.
Police said a man brought in a Tupperware bucket-full of chemicals to turn into officials. Inside, they found an old drug lab.
The man told police “he thought he was doing the right thing.”
They turned out to be unidentified industrial chemicals.
City Hall was evacuated just after 4 p.m. and hazardous materials crews were called to the scene.
The man did not face any charges, police say, but they too were evacuated from the building.
