Armed customer robs Canby pharmacy for Oxycontin
11:30 AM PST on Thursday, November 5, 2009
CANBY, Ore. -- Five pharmacy employees in Canby were held up at gunpoint on Wednesday as a masked customer demanded Oxycontin pills, according to detectives.
The suspect robber wore a ski mask and came into Dave’s Prescription Shop around 5 p.m., investigators said.
They complied, gave him the drugs and he ran away.
Investigators said employees recognized the suspected robber’s voice and eyes, which helped lead to the arrest of Alexander James Bogardus.
Bogardus, 26, was found later and arrested on five counts of robbery, theft and unlawful possession of a handgun.
He was booked into Clackamas County Jail. The county district attorney will determine whether and how to prosecute him.
Police were impressed with the pharmacy employees and their detective work in what Sgt. Frank Schoenfeld called “a highly stressful crime.”
