Friends and fellow cyclists Monday night honored a man killed while riding his bike in North Portand.

Last Monday, 31-year-old Brett Jarolimek was killed in a crash with a garbage truck on North Interstate and Greeley.

Jarolimek was an avid cyclist who worked at the bike gallery.

The memorial was at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, of which Jarolimek was a graduate. More than 100 cyclists rode through part of Forest Park during the event.

Last week, a committee on bike safety from the bicycle and freight communities, traffic engineers, police and Multnomah County officials met at City Hall to discuss new safety ideas.

Earlier in the month, 19-year-old cyclist Tracey Sparling was killed as she was riding straight from a traffic light and a cement truck turned right on West Burnside.
