COOS BAY, Ore. (AP) -- A 6-year-old boy from Coos Bay died and his uncle is presumed drowned after a wave swept them off their feet and into the ocean.
The Coos County Sheriff's Office says witnesses reported that the two were hit by a knee-high wave while standing on rocks near Simpson Beach on Saturday afternoon.
Someone pulled Craig Leone from the water, but the boy died before a Coast Guard helicopter could get him to a hospital.
Crews spent hours searching without success for 39-year-old Roy Tyler of Coos Bay.
