Two more girls accuse Portland track coach of sex abuse

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A former track and field coach was back in a Multnomah County courtroom Tuesday, facing additional charges that he sexually abused two more underage girls.

KGW report on sex abuse charges

Askia Brown, 33, was indicted in August on one count of sex abuse in the second degree and two counts of sex abuse in the third degree. Now, he’s facing five more counts of sex abuse involving two new victims, according to Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Josh Lamborn.

Brown, 33, was arrested on August 22.

After a track workout, police said, Brown brought one of the alleged victims back to his office building in southwest Portland and then the 14-year-old girl said a post-workout muscle massage crossed the line.

Detectives said Brown admitted to massaging the minor in the immediate area of her genitalia.

The Portland Archdiocese confirmed Brown served as assistant track coach at Central Catholic High School from 2005 to 2008.

Soon after his arrest, police said, several people came forward alerting officers that there might be additional victims. One of the alleged victim’s fathers, whom KGW was not identifying, said his daughter was a client of Brown’s “Portland Track Club” for about a month.

Following Tuesday’s court appearance, “Brown is now facing a total of eight counts; two counts of sex abuse in the second degree and six counts of sex abuse in the third degree,” said Lamborn.

Brown posted bond four days after his arrest.

No word when he will appear in court, next.
