An ash cloud rose about 4,000 feet in the air from Mt. St. Helens Saturday afternoon shortly after 3 p.m.

A plume of ash rises up from Mt. St. Helens following the collapse of a lava dome .

According to Park Ranger Peggy Bohan, a rock fall on lava dome # 7 caused a massive dome collapse that kicked up the towering ash plume.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a corresponding 3.5 magnitude earthquake at the mountain at 3:13 p.m.
