Boring area man killed in head-on collision

A Boring man was killed Friday night when his car was struck nearly head-on by a sport utility vehicle on Highway 212 west of Damascus. The other driver received non-life threatening injuries.

According to police reports, an SUV driven by Ryan L. Weaver, age 18, from Milwaukie was westbound on Highway 212 near SE Bel Air Drive at about 11:23 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and crashed nearly head-on with an eastbound Honda Civic.
The Honda's driver, Churchon Chasenkaton, age 47, from Boring, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was using safety restraints.
Weaver was transported to Oregon Health Sciences University with non-life threatening injuries for treatment.
Highway 212 was closed at the scene until 5:30 a.m Saturday. Investigators were looking into the cause of the crash.
