Mother of girl killed in sledding accident doesn't want charges filed
04:14 PM PDT on Friday, October 19, 2007
Statement from Madison Gecho's mother:
"Madison’s mother, Jill Gecho, would like all to know that Madison was a beautiful, loving daughter who appreciated all life had to offer and that her love of her father was without limits and unbreakable. The filing of criminal charges against Madison’s father does nothing to honor her life. Madison is survived by three siblings and the prosecution of their father will further scar a family that has already suffered a tremendous loss.
Peter Gecho’s relationship with Madison and all of his children has been based on love, learning and their happiness. His intention on the day of the accident was too bring joy to his children and the loss of his daughter has created a personal prison that he lives in every day.
Jill’s number one priority is her children and the prosecution's decision after nine months to file criminal charges against their father does not honor the well-being of her children in any way. Jill continues to thank everyone who has offered support and prayers for the Gecho family and hopes that through this darkness Madison’s spirit of love will prevail."
