Autumn harvest beers featured at annual hops festival

PORTLAND -- More than 25 original, local and fresh hop beers will be featured this weekend during the annual Fresh Hop Beer Tastival.
The state’s top breweries will be represented in Portland and say autumn is the only time of year to enjoy this many limited-release brews in one place.
Brew masters usually craft beer with dried hops, but during fall harvest fresh ingredients are available and used to create distinct tastes in each beer, festival organizers say.
Tastival is a one-day event, from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hopworks Urban Brewery on SE Powell Boulevard.
Admission to the events is free; however, attendees will pay $1 per taster. Glasses and mugs also will be available for $5 each and are required for tasting beer.
The Tastival is open to all ages but only those aged 21 and up can drink. Music, European cuisine and other foods will also be available.
