PORTLAND -- A routine noise complaint follow-up leads Marion County sheriffs to arrest a rape suspect.

Trevor Ferres, 19, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Salem for alleged attempted rape.

Deputy Jim Herring responded to the noise complaint about 1 a.m. at an apartment complex near the 4100 block of State Street. A neighbor had called to report people being loud outside.

When Herring arrived he heard a female voice screaming, “Stop,” and “No.”

The officer ran toward the screaming and says he observed a man sexually assaulting a woman.

Ferres has been charged with rape, attempted rape, kidnapping, unlawful sexual penetration and strangulation.

He remains in custody at Marion County Jail.

The victim, an 18-year-old, was apparently an acquaintance of Ferres. She was treated and released from a Salem hospital.
