CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A Beaverton man died after getting pinned under his pickup.
Corvallis police said 43-year-old Jack Price II got out of the red pickup Tuesday after it stalled on a city street. He reached into the engine compartment in an apparent attempt to restart the vehicle. The truck suddenly restarted, surged forward and ran over him.
A witness told the Gazette-Times newspaper that Price was conscious for a few minutes before passing out. She and others tried to turn off the truck, but there was no key in the ignition.
Rescuers finally freed Price after puncturing the truck's back tires and then propping up the front and the sides with wooden wedges.
Police said Price was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital.
