State launches Web site to help ease financial worries

SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services has launched a Web site to help address concerns about the security of personal finances.
The Web page addresses common questions about bank and credit union deposits, insurance policies, brokerage accounts, mortgages, and other investments.
It also includes links to state and federal financial regulators and other resources.
Also: College savings plan concerns
The state has increased its mortgage lending staff and is currently hiring five new financial examiners to conduct more frequent and in-depth examinations of state-chartered banks and trusts.
