SEASIDE, Ore. -- A live shark washed up along the north Oregon Coast Thursday and was rescued by an aquarium manager; however, it may be too weak to survive.

Seaside Aquarium’s marine mammal stranding team was working to rehabilitate the blue shark but said its chances of survival were slim since it had been out of water for an estimated 30 minutes.

They believe the lethargic, five-foot shark may have gotten caught in a fishing net.

The shark was housed in a large tank in the back of the aquarium, said aquarium manager Keith Chandler.

Blue sharks are common to the area.

A dead humpback whale washed up on the Southern Washington Coast Wednesday afternoon.
