Hillsboro Police Lieutenant Mike Rouches said that Gerrardo Pizano-Arteaga was found around 7 a.m., behind Joe’s Pastime Bar on NE 3 rd Avenue in Hillsboro.
When police found Pizano-Arteaga, he was unconscious with several serious head wounds. His body temperature was down to just 80 degrees.
Paramedics transported him to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland where he underwent surgery for his injuries on Sunday afternoon.
Rouches said police aren’t sure if this was an accident, a beating, or an attempted robbery but when they found Pizano-Arteaga, his wallet was still on him.
Police were also trying to determine if the incident took place at the bar or at another location.
Investigators believe the victim was likely to survive his injuries.
Police are now investigating the case as a homicide. No word yet on any suspects in this case.
