Gresham dad indicted in shaken baby case
08:44 AM PDT on Tuesday, September 25, 2007
GRESHAM -- A Multnomah County grand jury indicted a 20-year-old man Gresham man accused of shaking his then-six week old daughter nearly to death.
Brandon Dinucci faces charges including assault and criminal mistreatment. He was being held on $260,000 bail.
Police began investigating the family on September 9th, after she was brought to the hospital extremely lethargic and refusing to eat.
Originally, doctors feared the baby might die. But the infant is recovering and has been released to her maternal family. Doctors suspect she suffers from Shaken Baby Syndrome.
“If the child continues on in this state, she won't be OK for the rest of her life. If the rest of her life ends, and they base that deemed on this injury, then the charges could be homicide as opposed to assault,” Sgt. Jeff Hansen with the Gresham Police Department said.
