PORTLAND, Ore. -- A Lakeridge student struck his head on the floor and was taken to the hospital after passing out while playing the so-called fainting game with another male student, according to a Lake Oswego school principal.
During the morning break in the Lakeridge cafeteria, two male students engaged in the game, according to Lake Oswego principal Bruce Plato. The game, which has received media coverage at the national level, involves one individual trying to cut off the oxygen supply to the other to achieve a 'high' or 'rush' before passing out.
"During the incident that occurred this morning, the student who passed out fell to the floor and struck his head," wrote Plato. The student was taken to the school's health room, paramedics were called, and the student was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
According to Plato, both students involved have confirmed that they participated voluntarily, and said that they have done it many times before.

Plato emailed parents in the district to alert them to the incident and urge them to discuss the dangers of the game with their children.
