The team includes members of Portland Mountain Rescue, American Medical Response and the Mountain Wave Communications Group. George Apatachioae, 35, of Portland, fell from about 500 feet below the summit at about 1 p.m.
Climbing partner Ioan Baya, 47, of Vancouver, Wash., called for help.
Rescuers said both were well equipped and that they expected to reach the climbers Friday night.
Apatachioae reported only scratches but said he didn't think his legs were sure enough to come down on his own.
