A Toyota pickup driven by Bret Wilson, 21, was southbound through the intersection of 17th Street and Irving Street in Astoria when his pickup was struck in the passenger side by an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, said Oregon State Police Lt. Gregg Hastings.
Astoria Mayor Willis Van Dusen, 53, was riding the motorcycle.
Van Dusen received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Columbia Memorial Hospital. While at the hospital, a trooper noticed signs of intoxication and requested a blood sample from the mayor.
Van Dusen refused, Hastings said, and the trooper cited the mayor for DUII.
Wilson and his two passengers, ages 25 and 12, were not injured. Wilson was cited for not having a license, failing to obey a traffic control device and driving uninsured.
