LAKEVIEW, Ore. (AP) -- An Oregon State Police pilot and his passenger escaped injury when their plane struck some rocks during takeoff in the Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge.

Senior Trooper Dewayne Price and ODFW biologist Craig Foster were at the refuge northeast of Lakeview taking a Bighorn Sheep census.

The Oregon State Police says the Cessna four-seat aircraft hit the rocks Thursday after veering off a gravel road while accelerating for takeoff.

The OSP says damage to the aircraft's under carriage and wing will require it to be removed on a flatbed truck.
