Gang-related fist fight disrupts Oregon State Fair
07:38 AM PDT on Friday, August 29, 2008
SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Eight juveniles were arrested and another 21 people were ejected from the Oregon State Fair following a gang-related fistfight.
Oregon State Police said gang activity led to the ejection of 33 people from the fair Wednesday, including those involved in the fight.
People wearing gang colors began clustering in groups on the midway and posturing in front of rivals, flashing signs and trading insults. Troopers warned participants they would be thrown out if they kept it up.
But a fight started about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday near the adult rides, and troopers joined private security guards to break it up.
Four troopers have been added to the usual contingent of about 12 troopers who provide night security at the fair.
