PORTLAND, Ore. -- Detectives arrested a second suspect in a wilding spree of beatings and robberies that left several people hurt in North Portland earlier this month.

According Portland Sergeant Brian Schmautz, the crimes started when a driver pulled up next to a red pickup stopped in the middle of the road at the intersection on Northeast Columbia and 33rd around 4 a.m. August 12. That's when the four suspects started throwing things at the driver, then broke a windshield and took off.

After that, there were reports of random assaults on four more people and a robbery at a gas station on N. Interstate. That’s where the suspects were caught on surveillance tape.

The latest suspect was identified as 26-year-old Mack Parnell. Parnell was charged with assault, robbery and theft after his arrest Wednesday morning.

Multnomah County

Earlier in the month the first suspect arrested confessed to his part in the crimes, court documents showed.
