SALEM, Ore -- A convicted arsonist was arrested in Salem after police found what they said was a fake bomb Monday.

Officers found the package at the Marion County Sheriff's Office Parole and Probation Substation and evacuated the area.

The device was found to be fake.

Detectives said they later found 43-year-old Patrick Lee in a nearby industrial park, where he confessed to having planted the hoax device.

Lee was also suspected of planting a similar device last week.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, 15 counts of menacing, and possession of a hoax destructive device.

Lee was on post-prison supervision after a 2005 arson conviction.
