Detectives have arrested an accused hit-and-run driver believed to have struck a bicyclist on Highway 219 in Washington County last weekend.
John Carothers
John Gregory Carothers was charged with felony hit-and-run, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities do not think alcohol was a factor in the incident.
Detectives investigated many tips they received, and Carothers soon turned himself in.
The victim, Cindy Sharp, is a surgeon and mother of two-year-old triplets. She underwent extensive surgery Tuesday for her arm, which was badly broken when she was hit.
Sharp was struck Saturday afternoon while training for a charity ride to raise money for cancer research.
