Seven-year-old Trevor Wagner was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. Friday, officials at Legacy Emanuel's children's hospital said the young boy's head injuries were life-threatening.

The crash happened in the 3700 block of NE 132nd Avenue and NE 37th Street just after Trevor rode his bike out of a nearby church parking lot.

Neighborhood kids had been riding with Wagner but lost sight of him.

Police inspect the bike at the scene of the accident.

Investigators also think the driver swerved to avoid Wagner, but couldn't manage it.

"... the little boy, he was all bloody… he was crying, trying to get up," said Nick Higgins, a youth pastor at the nearby church.

People nearby told investigators that they heard the crash but did not see it.

Police searching the area for clues found a side mirror that they believe broke off the car on impact. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 2004 Nissan Frontier or Xterra, possibly yellow, missing a passenger mirror and with possible front right headlight damage.
