KGW report on rape suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A wanted rapist struck again Thursday in Central Oregon before stealing a car and leading police on a chase that led to his eventual arrest, investigators said.

Just before noon a Prineville a 20-year-old Prineville woman said she was raped in her home by a stranger, later identified as 47-year-old Jackie Weeks.

The registered sex offender was suspected of raping a woman in Northwest Portland earlier in the week.

Police found Weeks near Corbett Thursday afternoon after a pursuit by several agencies.

Weeks pleaded not guilty in Multnomah County court Friday to rape, sodomy, sex abuse and burglary charges.

Oregon State Police spotted the car at 1:47pm just south of Sandy on Dubarko Rd. Clackamas County joined in the pursuit, and the chase crossed over in Multnomah County, ending shortly after the driver bailed out south of the East Crown Point Highway on SE Pounder Road.

A short foot pursuit ended with Weeks taken into custody just before 2:30. The chase covered around 25 miles in 34 minutes.

Weeks entered a woman's home in Northwest Portland Tuesday afternoon and sexually assaulted her, then fled, according to police.

The woman did not know Weeks, police said.

The investigation led police to a warehouse area in Southeast Portland, where officers believed Weeks worked.

His last listed address was at the Medford Hotel, in the 500 block of Northwest Fifth Avenue, according to the Multnomah County predatory sex offender website. He was released from prison in July of 2007 after serving more than six years in jail for rape.

Police, detectives and two K-9 teams were working together when one officer spotted Weeks and tried to capture him, but he managed to get away Wednesday night.
