PORTLAND -- Java junkies read on!

There is something brewing in Southeast Portland that has never happened before and it is creating a buzz even before it opens.

Dutch Brothers

“We have old guys coming by, giving us the thumbs up, loving it,” said Joseph Brown, owner of the newest Dutch Bros. Coffee franchise. “I’m just hoping it works out really well.”

Coffee drinkers in smaller towns from California to Washington, and Oregon to Idaho may be familiar with Dutch Bros. Coffee. The company started in southern Oregon in 1992 and has now grown to more than 100 locations.

The coffee chain has primarily focused on those smaller towns with small trailers or buildings equipped with drive-through windows.

Dutch Bros. prides itself on the speed at which it can make one of its coffee drinks. “It takes about 30 seconds to make every single coffee,” said Brown.

When a customer gets that drink, Dutch Bros. claims they will end up with a different kind of coffee. “It’s not real bitter, it’s not real acidic, it’s just real good coffee,” said Brown.

To celebrate the grand opening of Dutch Bros. Coffee, its store on SE 67th Ave. and SE Foster will offer offering free coffee Tuesday and Wednesday.
