Armed robber asks for 10 minutes to escape after stealing $4

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- An armed man noticed a door pried open to cool a Vancouver apartment, walked right in, and then robbed the residents early Monday morning, police said.

Except all he got was $4.

One of the victims told police that two men entered just after midnight through the door that was ajar. The victim said one of the men pointed a silver semi-automatic style handgun and ordered them to get on the floor.

“The suspect then directed the adult victim to unplug the telephone and one of the juveniles to empty a purse to get the suspect the money,” said Sgt. Scott Schanaker from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

But the purse was practically empty; the robbers only got $4.

Then, the suspect warned the residents "not to call the police for 10 minutes" and the pair fled, according to Schanaker.

Although 10 minutes didn’t sound like much, it turned out to be enough time for the pair to escape. Even a K-9 team could not track them down.

Police released the following suspect descriptions after interviewing the residents:

Suspect #1:

Possible white male, unknown age, slender build, about 5’7” tall, wearing a black bandanna over his face covering his nose, wearing sunglasses, blue jeans, and black T-shirt with an unknown large white logo.

Suspect #2:

Man, wearing blue jean shorts and a black back pack. Witnesses said this man never stepped out of the doorway, so they did not get a good look at him.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office Tactical Detective Unit was leading the investigation at Knoble Park Apartments.
