SWEET HOME, Ore. -- The search is on for a 26-year-old Eugene man who
was camping in the Cascadia State Park, east of Sweet Home, and failed
to make it back to the campsite.
Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller reports members of the Search and Rescue
team and Linn County mounted posse are conducting the search.
The missing man's father called police when his son, 26-year-old Anthony
Laveck, did not get back to the camp Wednesday.
Thomas Laveck called police after he had a short cellphone conversation
with his son, who indicated he was unsure where he was but believed he
could get to the camp site. He never showed.
And Anthony Laveck had no further contact with his father.
The search began Wednesday night and resumed Thursday and there is still
no sign of him.
