He may have acted like an adult when he intervened during a medical emergency earlier this week -- likely saving his father’s life and potentially the lives of others -- but nine-year-old Matthew Lovo Jr.’s mind is on video games these days.

Many readers of kgw.com’s article about the child, a Good Samaritan and a runaway semi truck have opened their hearts and would like to open their wallets; they have expressed interest contributing to a fund that would be used to buy the boy a PlayStation.

Lovo Jr., known as Matty, steered his father’s loaded big rig out of oncoming traffic after the elder Lovo suffered a seizure while driving. A Good Samaritan who saw the boy steering the massive truck helped further by stopping and jumping out of his own car, chasing the semi, climbing aboard and bringing the vehicle to a halt.

Matty said he merely did what his dad would have done in a similar situation.

Matthew Lovo Sr. said his son also asked him for one thing: "Sometime can we get another PlayStation to put it in the big truck?”

Readers of the Web site Fark.com , which links to unusual news articles and contains a link to kgw.com's story, proposed the fund idea in a Fark forum.

“I mean... 100 farkers throw 3 bux in a paypal or something, and we're clear,” one man wrote.

Wrote another, “Hey this is the first time I've seen a town near me on Fark, and it's actually for something good! Kid definitely deserves something (and the guy that brought it to a stop too).”

As of early Thursday afternoon, a donation fund had not yet been set up. However, KGW was working to help establish one.
