The man was heading north on I-5 when he tried to pick up a C-D from the passenger floorboard. His pickup headed off the road, went over a 20-foot embankment on the shoulder and then crashed into a power pole.
The sagging pole caused numerous live power lines to fall along a nearby highway and caused a grass fire on the interstate.
Police say power was disrupted from Roseburg to Sutherlin.
The driver was possibly injured but declined medical care.
