A man and a woman have been jailed after their sexual encounter led someone to think a rape was in progress.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says a homeless woman seeking a place to pitch a tent contacted the authorities Wednesday after witnessing a man sexually assaulting a bound and naked woman.

The 47-year-old Milwaukie man and 46-year-old Portland woman fled when deputies arrived, but were tracked down by a police dog.

The pair explained that they met on Craigslist while seeking this type of sexual encounter. The man added that he fled because of his marital status.

They were lodged on charges of public indecency, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass. Total bail was $33,500.
