The woman who fled after ramming into seven vehicles Thursday while driving with a baby in her back seat surrendered to police Saturday morning.

A pregnant woman was injured in the hit-and-run and went into premature labor but no one else was transported to the hospital.

Early Saturday morning, Jessica Oldroyd, 24, walked into the Washington County Sheriff's Office and admitted that she was the one driving the SUV involved in the hit-and-run. She was arrested and faces several charges including hit-and-run, criminal mistreatment of the child in her vehicle, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, and a parole violation.

Police had been searching for Oldroyd since Thursday night when seven separate vehicles that were smashed up by the same Nissan Pathfinder, according to Sgt. Dave Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses told deputies that a woman, later identified as Oldroyd, hit several cars along 205th Avenue and then veered into oncoming traffic and hit even more.

"All the sudden, the traffic was stopped and we didn't understand why," one of the drivers told KGW. "Someone started screaming, 'a car is coming, a car is coming!'"

About 15 minutes later, police found the pathfinder on a dead-end street a few blocks away but Oldroyd was gone.

“A witness said he saw a young woman get out of the SUV, he described her as about 5'7" tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair. He said she took a small child out of a child seat in the back of the vehicle. She then fled into a wooded area with the child,” Thompson said.

A K-9 team tried to track Oldroyd but lost her scent. Friday morning, police released a mug shot of the woman and urged anyone with information that may help them find her to call their local police department.

The child, who police said was Oldroyd's 16-month-old baby, was found safe later Friday morning, but Oldroyd remained missing.

Oldroyd has an extensive criminal record with past arrests for assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, eluding police, driving drunk, and selling and manufacturing drugs. Police also said she was driving with a suspended license when the crashes occurred on Thursday night.

As for the pregnant woman, her injuries were not life-threatening and although there were initial reports that she went into labor, Thompson said Friday morning that her contractions subsided and she did not give birth. Her name has not been released.
