SHERIDAN, Ore. -- A dog was taken from its' owner after a crash with cyclists that left one man in the hospital with serious injuries.
Monday morning 63-year-old Jim Nice and 58-year-old William Hulling were riding bicycles on Harmony Road near Sheridan when a dog came running towards them, deputies said. The dog’s owner, 24-year-old Matthew Rice, was also on the scene.

Nice crashed into the boxer mix and was thrown off the bike. Paramedics said he was found unconscious and finally taken to OHSU in Portland with serious injuries to his head and face.
Rice was cited about a month ago for chasing a woman on a bicycle. Rice complied with the licensing requirements, but had not yet installed a fence to keep the dog in, police said.
He was cited for public nuisance and potentially dangerous dog violations for the animal running loose.
Deputies said the District Attorney could also consider more charges.
