THE DALLES, Ore. -- A man from The Dalles is in a Washington jail on accusations that he kidnapped his ex-wife and threatened to kill her.
According to an arrest affidavit, 43-year-old Wyatt Mitchell forced the woman into a car Saturday and then drove across the Columbia River into Washington.
The ex-wife told Skamania County authorities that Mitchell brought along several kitchen knives and punched her in the mouth and thigh. She said he repeatedly threatened to kill her and visited her former stepbrother in Clark County in an unsuccessful attempt to borrow a gun.
Mitchell is scheduled to be arraigned July 31 in Skamania County on charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
