Police said Steven Robert Dixon had just left a nearby home when he fell onto the tracks and the northbound Union Pacific freight train hit him.

An off-duty certified nursing assistant and her husband were giving the victim first aid.

Dixon suffered life threatening leg and head injuries and was transported to OHSU.

He was taken to the intensive care unit at OHSU and listed in critical condition Sunday night.
