One year after fatal crash, Hillsboro Air Show will go on

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) -- It was one year ago this week that a plane leaving the Hillsboro area crashed into four homes, killing the pilot.

A plane crashed during the air show, setting homes ablaze in the Hillsboro heighborhood.

The vintage British fighter jet crashed during the last day of the 2006 air show.

The accident demolished one home and damaged three others. No residents or others on the ground were hurt.

The pilot, 73-year-old Robert Guilford, was killed in the crash. Guilford was an aviation attorney from Southern California.

It was the first crash in the show's 19-year history and prompted debate over hosting the show at the regional airport with homes nearby.

It was ultimately deicded that the air show show would go on. The year's air show is scheduled for August 11th and 12th, with the U-S Navy Blue Angels set to star as the main event.
