Corvallis man killed in head-on crash on Highway 99W

A Corvallis man died and two other people were injured early Friday morning when his car was struck by a small pickup on Highway 99W near Corvallis, police said.
Oregon State Police released this photo from the crash scene.
Aaron Veden, 21, of Corvallis, was driving a Chevrolet S10 pickup southbound on Highway 99W near milepost 77 when he crossed the centerline and went into oncoming traffic just after midnight.
An oncoming Geo Storm driven by Awad Elgarguri, 49, of Corvallis, veered over, but the Geo was still struck in the driver's side by the pickup.
Elgarguri died at the scene. His 16-year-old son, who was a passenger in the car, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis with minor injuries.
Veden was also hurt, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

Investigators said it’s possible Veden may have fallen asleep at the wheel but the investigation continues.
