OLALLIE LAKE, Ore. -- A hiker missing since Tuesday walked unharmed out of the woods Thursday afternoon near Breitenbush Lake, several miles away from where she started.

Kelli Michelle Bryan said clouds and fog rolled in Tuesday after she began hiking, obscuring her view of a butte she was using as a landmark, causing her to lose track of the trail. The 21-year-old was wearing a T-shirt and jeans and had no overnight caming equipment.

But she managed to survive just fine.

"I built shelter, had a fire both nights and just went from there. I had plenty of food and water," she said.

The Linfield College student had been working at Olallie Lake Resort for the summer. She left for a hike Tuesday morning and was expected to return later that day. When Bryan did not return from her hike, a coworker searched for her but could not find her, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Department.

Sgt. Don Sweet of the Marion County Sheriff's Department said Bryan walked out of the forest shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday.

"I understand she walked out on her own power," Sweet said.
